ABOUT ME

I obtained the title of a Doctor of Linguistis from the University of Amsterdam. I am a graduate of the English Language and Culture Studies at the University of Warsaw (Poland), and subsequently of the Research Master in Linguistics Program at the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Since 2009 I have been working on Lokono Dian (or Lokono for short), a critically endangered Arawakan language spoken in the Guianas, South America (Suriname, French Guiana, Guyana), with particular focus on the Surinamese variety. I have conducted multiple field trips during the course of the years and focused on the linguistic expression of spatial relations in the language. For my PhD, I have embarked on an interdisciplinary project investigating the complex relation between linguistic structure and geographic features. At the same time I have been engaged in language revitalization activities and in the creation of a lasting multimedia corpus of the language.
